Why do People go to the University?

There lots of people who chose to further their studies in universities or colleges every year and each one of them has his/her own reason for making such a decision. The phrase knowledge “Knowledge is power”, a notion that was coined by Francis Bacon in 1957 has always been related to education and since the introduction of this famous quote, people’s urge to further their studies has increased (Joyce, 2017). Although most people attend universities to enhance their education on what they already have, some pursue higher education to get promotions, acquaint themselves in certain fields they don’t know, or gain titles such as professors. Education is an important tool that everyone should empress since it stays within people throughout their lives.

Firstly, people attend universities to prepare for their careers since currently, career preparation is very vital to the young generation.  With this competitive society among young people, good educational background is very necessary (Shestakova et al., 2017). Thus, failing to attend a university will make a jobseeker fail to secure a good job opportunity in their career or even fail to secure any job. As such, people go to universities in order to acquaint themselves with new skills and meet the necessary requirements for their career.

Secondly, people attend universities in order to gain more knowledge in subjects they have much interest in or lack knowledge on the subjects. Universities have all the resources needed for them to get whatever knowledge they wish to gain. There are professors and experts in every field that can provide the knowledge and skills they want. This is a major reason why people go to universities. Lastly, some people attend universities in order to start a new life. Universities offer young people an environment to young people that allows them to intercommunicate lots of topics such as life goals, emotions, art, and literature.  This makes it a special encounter for many people who joins universities.

In conclusion, since education does not erode throughout one’s life once obtained and being the most important tool in someone’s life, people have to join universities for this main reason in order to live perfectly with other people, compete favorably in the job market, and get respected in their societies.
